THE SIDE OF ME YOU NEVER SEE

This is just a tiny peer into the shallower end of the depths of my soul. A lot of things may be out of character from my natural demeanor but I can't allow myself to worry about that anymore. I am a structure with walls however, the doors are now wide open.

Ever needed to engulfed in something so sweet, yet so bewitching; something that consumes you like a moth drawn to the flame? If not you will be....to help me...to understand me...you must first help and understand yourself.

Conversation of The Elite Minds of MHS

Our Culture
The Issues Plauging The African American Society

The One and Only Devin S : When are we, as black people going to really come up? Our desperate attempt for dignity is constantly being opressed, not by the man, but by our own inability to recognize real prosperity. We get a little money and waste it on unecessary needs in order to gain the recognition of are racial counterparts. This wasteful nature often creates stereotypes that do nothing to benifit our culture, if we can call it a culture any more. The culture of the African American society has slowly deteriorated almost to the point of non existence. We were once represented by strong black people who enforced change in our social structure. Now, the black culture has been reduced to Tall Tee's and grills. We used to speek with such eloquence as to envoke emotions and change perspectives. Now a new age of slang has taken over and has stigmatized us with the mark of imaturity. Now the question rises "Can we recover from this miserable slump?". The answer is yes, but in order to do so we must break away from the bondage that binds us to the chains of ignorance. Together, we can make a difference.

Undaground Lyracist: sounds like an ACTSO essay by an undisclosed individual...LOL! but i completely agree with u. but of course it is much easier said than done. I for one, feel that we should start a movement 2 try & increase awareness about the deterioration of our culture and at the same time, evoke an interest 4m young ppl 2 begin the chance that will carry our generation into adulthood. It took one man 2 get millions of african americans 2 add the word "krunk" 2 our vocab., one man 2 get millions 2 begin the "grill" movement, one man 2 make "snap music" the hottest thing in the music industry, so why can ONE MAN begin a movement 2 initiate a change in the direction of the development and advancement of our "culture". DEVIN, U HAVE INSPIRED ME, WE CAN START THIS CHANGE. IM SERIOUS.

WIsH I WAs drEAMin bUt ITS ReAl... : Devin....i agree completely. Why didnt u do poetry for actso. But Anyways that was really good and more BLACK people (per se) should feel the same way about our culture. It has gotten past ignorance and is just plain embarrassing. But hey get back at me

Inspired Poet: WOW! I completely agree with you Bro! However we are have more freedom than our ancesteral counterparts. They fought in the struggle so that we do not have to today. Martin Luther King Jr. got shot so that you and I and other intelligent minority children can take an advanced math course taught by a teacher who's ethinicity and culture is also a minority in this country we call America. On the other hand, the prevalency of our culture being in our faces on a daily basis has diminished in a sense but it is up to this current generation to trade in the grillz, tall tees, white tees, and sagging for a better re-education of the past to not only ourselves but the kids we are producing. If the schools don't teach black history and we don't at least tell our kids of the civil rights movement, affirmative action, and their great grand parents accomplishments in history all the way down to us then we as a black, no African Americanized race will lose our face and focus in this ever changing world. Thanks for the platform.

So you see that the truth really is in the eye of the beholder. Thank you to the people who initiated this conversatoin of great minds and we plan to implement it. If you have something to add you know where to comment me.
